Information for Parade Participants

1) REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MAY 7!
Only Hero Dogs are permitted to walk in the parade; no pet dogs.

2) Dress Code

All participants must wear:
- Hero Dogs parade t-shirt
- Navy blue slacks, capris, or shorts (e.g. Dockers-style). NO JEANS.
- Hero Dogs hat (if desired)

You will purchase your t-shirt(s) for each participant with this registration. T-shirts will be distributed at the briefing meeting on Thursday, May 22 (details below). If you do not have a Hero Dogs hat and wish to purchase one, they will be available for purchase ($15) at the briefing.

3) Transportation

Limited bus transportation will be available. Priority for bus transportation will be given to those handling a Hero Dog in the parade. You will specify your preferred transportation in your registration; if you choose bus please be aware that you may need a back-up plan. Also, the parade organizers have told us that using the metro is STRONGLY ADVISED. There is NO parking for cars at the parade staging area and the nearest parking garages may be many blocks away. It is also a very busy weekend in the city and even garage parking will be scarce.

4) Briefing meeting

There will be a briefing meeting for final parade details on Thursday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Hero Dogs. All participants are urged to attend this meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you must make arrangements to pick up your t-shirt(s) at Hero Dogs prior to the parade. An email summary of the final details will be sent to all participants after the briefing meeting.

5) Children

We welcome the participation of families in this event, but before deciding to bring younger children, please be aware that it will be a very long day in a crowded and probably somewhat chaotic environment. There will not be spaces for children on the float.

6) Agreement of Release

EVERY PARTICIPANT (including children) MUST fill out the Agreement of Release form (click here). Please print and mail, drop off, or scan and e-mail the completed form(s) to Hero Dogs at the following address:

FORMS MUST BE RETURNED TO HERO DOGS NO LATER THAN MAY 12. IF YOUR FORM IS NOT RECEIVED BY THAT DATE, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE.
